If you are unsure where your child fits into the levels, please sign-up for the level slightly under his/her abilities and that is the closest to the age group he/she is in. In an event where the child is miss-placed, your child's instructor will discuss options to determine where he/she fits best. Very rare is the case where a child needs to be moved to a different level during the session. The instructor will make appropriate changes as needed to ensure your child is in the class that suits his or her needs best. Spiders: Ages 4 months-2 years, A parent involved water orientation class. Early exposure ensures a smooth transition to both instruction and basic water skills. Over time, your young swimmer will demonstrate confidence and security in and around the water. This class is a great way to introduce water play and safety. Contact Anitra for interest 15-30 minutes. Waterbugs: Ages 15 months-2 years, A instructor taught toddler swim class. Parent's are asked to not be present during the first few lessons for water orientation and adjustment period. Parent can view the class through windows and family seating area. This class is set up for only 3 participants per class. Water Orientation and Comfort is the primary goal. Several under water skills will be introduced once the child is comfortable with instructor. Basic lesson following rules will be established through out the lesson. Class starts at a 15 minute time and gradually increases to 30 minutes. Ducklings: Ages 2-4 yrs, These children have No or Little swimming experience prior to entering this class. They are not yet independent in the water (not doggie padding) and may or may not be comfortable when face is wet. It is normal for some these children to demonstrate both fears of the water and separation from their parents. These children will need extra support and patiences for water introduction, please allow the instructor time to help your child adjust to the new environment. 30 minutes. Tadpoles: Ages 3-5 yrs, These children should be comfortable in the water with their face submerged and should be able to swim about 5 feet independently, (Not required to perform stroke technique). They should be able to kick on their back while assisted, some maybe able to float unassisted for a short period of time. These swimmers should be able to remain on the pool wall (in the water) while taking turns and be able to follow all safety directions. 30 minutes. Turtles: Ages 4-6 yrs, Can Swim independently while face submerged across the shallow end of the pool. Should be able to demonstrate basic strokes, although they may or may not be refined. Attempts rotary breathing but has not yet mastered the skill. These children will be introduced to both distance and depth swimming. 30 minutes. Frogs: Ages 4-9 years, This group of swimmers have mastered Turtles level and can swim a full length of Freestyle and back sculling for 25 yards each stroke. May not have the stroke refined. They are comfortable in the deep end of the pool and have no problems jumping and attempting dives. This group of swimmer is not yet ready for Crocs level because they have not yet mastered rotary breathing for more than a full lap but can demonstrate this skill. Frogs class will jump these swimmers up to a 45 minute class that will help these swimmers build stamina for endurance swimming. This class is a suitable alternative to the early day swim team environment because this class is offered in the later hours of the day. Our Swim Team program requires children to swim with a productive kick throughout the stroke, Frogs class will help your child build their stroke. You must have your swimmer evaluated to join in this group by an instructor. We allow 6 swimmers in Frogs. Gators: Ages 5-10 yrs, These children are new to swim lessons or have yet become comfortable in and around the water. Some of these children have fears of getting their face wet or swimming in the deep end of the pool. Most of the children that fit this level, have had unsuccessful lessons in the past and need to learn to feel safe while learning proper swim instruction and water safety skills. 30 minutes. Crocs: Ages 5-10 yrs, May or may not be skill ready for Swim Team. This swimmer should be able to swim laps in the larger section of the pool, and have knowledge of all four strokes, (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly). Although the strokes need refining, the child should be able to demonstrate basic movements, such as kicks, arm placements and breathing patterns. 1 hour class with up to 8 swimmers. Please see Swim Team icon above for information regarding developmental swim teams and our year round swim team environment programs for children 5 and above. Swim & Trim: Adults ages 18 years and up, Swim workout for parent's interested in getting a little more water time for themselves! Class includes a full hour of a water swim routine that will really kick it up a notch! Class Ratios Everyone here at Swim Fanatics believes the safety of our swimmers is our top priority. Therefore, we like to teach our group lessons in small group settings. We strongly commit to keeping all our children programs in the ratio of 4 children to 1 instructor, with the exception of our Spiders, Frogs & Crocs levels. Seahorse program is set for a one-to-one ratio and is 15 minute long.
