Welcome to Swim Fanatics!
Our history

Swim Fanatics first started as a summer program in 1999 with one instructor.  By 2007, our program has
grown into a year round swimming program that includes private swim instruction, group lessons, drown
proofing program for infants and toddlers, developmental Swim Team, progressive & competitive Swim
Teams that are offered year round for children, Adult Masters Program and Adult cardio swim programs.

Swim Fanatics is proud to continue offering swim lessons for swimmers of all ages, (infants through
adults) and is excited to currently service well over 450 swimmers  annually in the triad area.  Everyone
here at Swim Fanatics believes that swimming is one of the few sports you can continue to do throughout
your entire life.
Without swim skills, so much fun and development would be missed throughout a lifetime.

Swim Fanatics Swim Team provides school year and summer programs for children ages 3-18 years of
age and an Adult program for swimming for fitness with a masters team coming in 2008.  Our coaches
and instructors provide both developmental and competitive team environments for a multitude of
swimming abilities.  With a strong focus in proper stroke development and technique, your swimmer is
sure to have a wonderful swimming experience through Swim Fanatics.  With the guidance of our Head
Coach Sasha Kuznezov, Swim Fanatics team programs provide dedication, individualized recognition
and quality instruction for both new and advanced swimmers. Please visit Our Staff section of our site for
more information on our coaches and instructors.

It is our hope that we can provide everyone with our personal time and talents to ensure a safe and
productive swimming experience for your family.

Our motto

"Where Swimming is more than just a Sport, It's a Passion!"
Our mission

Swimming is a necessary life skill that everyone should master.
It is our goal to ensure a safe and loving environment that encourages all our swimmers
to reach their highest potential and thrive in a safe manner in and around water.
Our beliefs

We believe in a loving but firm teaching method.  Children should learn to share, wait their turn and follow all of their
instructors commands during lessons.

We teach with a safety first goal in mind.  Our immediate goal is to establish both trust and respect between the
instructor and swimmer.  Children should learn to hold on to the side of the pool and support themselves upright.
Basic water orientation is essential during the first few lessons.  We do not force submerge any of our swimmers.
However, we do introduce early under water experiences as soon as possible to insure quick water adjustment.
Once these goals have been obtained, stroke development and breathing techniques will be introduced.

We value individuality and understand that all children learn differently. It is our priority to help each child develop to
their full potential as a swimmer.  Every child needs both positive praise and constructive direction to grow. Our
instructors are trained and experienced in helping each child learn and enhance their swimming skills in a safe and
loving environment.

We believe in teaching children to aim high, to reach high and to fly high!  Children need support from people all
around them.  Our coaches and instructors look for your child's individual uniqueness and we take time to point out
the positives in your child's development and growth.
Our location

We are currently renting pool space at the downtown Hayes-Taylor YMCA located in the heart of A&T State
University off the corner of Market St and Dudley St.

Your responsibilities as Swim Parents

Our instructors are trained to handle crying and fearful situations with your child.  It is very common for children to express
anxiety during the first several swim lessons.  Be prepared for the idea that even though your child seems to love playing in
water, it may be very different in a class environment.  We ask you to be patient, we are confident that once your swimmer has
adjusted and swimming like a little fish, you will be glad you worked through the emotions of helping your child over come their
fears and make adjustments to change.  Also, we encourage all parents to be open to the idea of disappearing during the first
few lessons when your child is in the adjustment phase of lessons.  Let your instructor know where you will be and reassure your
child that you will be back at the end of class. Every instructor wants the very best for your child and safety is where we begin.
Please do not let your child enter the water for any reason until your instructor has given them the okay to enter. This not only
insures your instructor is ready to begin class, but also validates to your child that safety is the top priority around water. Once
your instructor has dismissed your child from lessons, please assist them by directing your child to exit out of the pool.  Your
child needs to remain out of the pool once class has ended.

Our Makeup Policy

In the event that your child must miss a scheduled lesson, you must notify your instructor 12 hours before your child's missed
lesson to be considered to receive a make up.  You are allowed 3 make ups per session for missed & notified lessons, after
that you will be placed on a waiting list for any future make up dates during that session only.  If your instructor does not
receive the 12 hour notice of cancellation, please do not ask for a make up, as one will not be given.  The instructors here at
Swim Fanatics understand that your child may occasionally fall ill on the same day as their scheduled lesson.  We cannot
guarantee that you will be given a make up for these unplanned absences, so please do your best to notify your child's
instructor before the 12 hour deadline to ensure a make up is scheduled and granted.  We ask out of curiosity of your
instructor and others to Please not bring your child to swim on a day that they are ill.  No one wants or needs to be physically
active when they are not well and we want to insure safety and strong health to all our swimmers.

We also understand that there will be times you will not be able to make lessons do to a scheduling conflict or vacation.
Unfortunately, this missed lesson may not be made up because the lesson was held even while you were absent.  We
recommend for you to notify and contact your instructor for any possible make times available as soon as you can but please
understand a make up is not guaranteed.  No transfers of missed lessons, discounts or refunds will be given for any reason
due to your absences of lessons.
For extreme situations such as long-term injury or hospitalization of a swimmer, where the spot in the lesson can be filled with
another swimmer, a credit in the amount of the remainder of the session (unused lessons) may be issued at the instructor
discretion.  Again, no refunds will be issued for any reason.
Instructor Absences or Pool Closings

On rare occasion, your child's instructor maybe absent due to illness or scheduled vacations or absences.
If classes must be cancelled due to your instructors absences, you will be given a proper make up suitable
to your availability. In the event of a pool closing, make ups will be given ASAP. Your instructor will do their
best to give you warning of any cancelled lessons or pool closings. For extreme weather days, please
check your email and voice messages for possible cancellations before heading to the pool. All Swim
Fanatics programs follow Guilford County Schools inclement weather plans. If County schools are closed
for poor weather, Swim Fanatics lessons & team practices will be cancelled for the day. Suitable make ups
for group lessons will be given via email as soon as possible. Swim Fanatics may also cancel lessons for
unusually cold water temperatures. Water temperature that drops below 80 degrees mixed with cold room
air temperature can create a very uncomfortable environment for small children. Although this problem
does not occur often, sometimes during cold winter months it is a risk. If Swim Fanatics cancels lessons
because the instructors feel the temperature creates an unwelcoming and unproductive environment,
lessons will be postponed for a suitable later date. Please refer back to our Schedule for possible dates the
pool is closed for holidays.
Scheduling Your Makeup

All makeups must be scheduled in advance with your instructor. Your makeup
class must be completed during the same session on a different day and in
another class of the same level. A 12 week term cannot be lengthened by one
week because of an absence. We do not guarantee the same teacher for group
lesson make ups. No refunds or credits will be given for any missed classes.
