Water Introduction Swimming

Swim Fanatics Swim Club provides a wide variety of active aquatic programs for even the smallest member of your family! We want everyone to feel welcome in our fun aquatic atmosphere and strongly recommend early water adaption for children as young as 5 months old. Our unique aquatic classes for the very young are specifically designed for your little one to start enjoying the water early. We cater these programs to be low participant ratios so that we maximize water exposer in a safe productive swimming environment. Each child will be given personal attention by our trained and certified instructors that will work hard to provide you and your little one with personalized obtainable goals that will teach you both ways to enhance your learning within our swim program.

Swim Fanatics works hard to keep our water temperature at a safe and conducive environment for all our participants. We have a few recommendations for our very young swimmers that will help make our environment more enjoyable.

Children under the age of 2 yrs should not be in the water for more than 45 minutes. As these children are at risk and should not be introduced into a swimming environment until they can maintain the heads in an upright position and can maintain their own body temperature when dressed in a diaper only for more than 45 minutes. If you have any concerns or questions about whether your child is ready to begin participating in water activities (outside of bathing,) please speak with your child’s pediatrician.

Keeping your child warm is important. Water activities can lead to loss of heat and all children need to be evaluated before, during and after swimming for signs of temperature changes. Please remember to dress your child appropriately for swimming and be prepared with warm towels and dry clothing for after your activities have ended. *Swim diapers are a must, remember to bring a back up set as well.

Parent Participation Classes: Itsy Spiders (Ages 4-20 months)

Our infant water introduction program is a parent involved water orientation class that focuses on building a loving foundation of safety and enrichment in the water for both parent and child. Our USA Swimming certified staff member will walk you and your baby through a fun and interactive program that introduces many memorable childhood classic lullabies and melodies that will put a smile on your baby’s face while playing in the water with mom or dad. (Grandparent’s or caregivers are welcome too!)

This program is suitable for the youngest of swimmers beginning at 4 months. Your little kicker will learn the water adaption skills needed to enjoy kicking, blowing bubbles and splashing about as the grow and learn many developmental skills like sitting up,crawling and cruising! Water play will get even the shyest of baby’s kicking and splashing for more attention. This water class is a great way for you and your baby to enhance your loving and bonding relationship where trust is the foundation!

Toddler Water Exploration: Waterbugs (Ages 12-24 months)

This wonderful swim program provides young children with a small ratio swim lesson environment that teaches early water independence. This class is offered to only two participants without parental involvement. Parents can rest assure that their child is learning basic swim skills in a safe and loving environment that is taught by a certified USA Swimming instructor.

Your young swimmer will learn early survival skills that teach a healthy respect for water and your child’s limitations within that environment. Having a small ratio within this program will strengthen the bond between child and instructor and aid your child into a safe progression within our swim program.
