Swim Fanatics Swim Club provides a wide variety of active aquatic programs for all members of your family! We want everyone to feel welcome in our fun aquatic atmosphere and strongly recommend early water adaption for children with special needs through our adaptive swim lesson program. Our unique adaptive aquatic classes for families with a special needs child are specifically designed for your family to enjoy swimming in a safe and loving environment. We cater these programs to be low participant ratios so that we maximize water exposer in a safe productive swimming environment. Each swimmer will be given personal attention by our trained and certified instructors that will work hard to provide you and your child with personalized obtainable goals that will teach your entire family to enjoy water activities together.
Swim Fanatics works hard to keep our water temperature at a safe and conducive environment for all our participants. We have a few recommendations for our special needs swimmers that will help make our environment more enjoyable.
We limit our water exposure to 30-45 minutes for safety. Children with special needs maybe at risk for water aspiration and/or rapid heat loss when introduced to swimming activities. All our swimmers will be individually accessed for under water readiness and should follow those guidelines at all times. All adaptive swimmers will need one participating adult with them at all times. Family members can participate in the class at no additional charge but must be able to stand upright in 4 feet depth waters. If you have any concerns or questions about whether your child is ready to begin participating in water activities (outside of bathing,) please speak with your child’s pediatrician.
Keeping your child warm is important. Water activities can lead to loss of heat and all special needs children need to be evaluated before, during and after swimming for signs of temperature changes. Please remember to dress your child appropriately for swimming and be prepared with warm towels and dry clothing for after your activities have ended. *Swim diapers are a must for all children not fully potty trained, remember to bring a back up set as well.
